Was your Google My Business listing recently suspended or shut down?

Over the weekend of 2/14/20 – 2/16/20 Google put in place a massive crack down on spam listings and fake addresses. Unfortunately, despite those good intentions we are seeing chatter online that some legitimate business owners may have been caught in the crossfire.

At 616 Marketing Group, we always use best practices for all of our business listings that do not violate Google Terms of Service, and as a result no clients were negatively impacted by this recent mass suspension.

Now is a good time to check who has Manager access to your Google My Business account and remove anyone who is inactive or you are no longer working with.

Steps to check your Google My Business Managers:

  1. Login to https://www.google.com/business/
  2. Select your business listing (if not automatically placed into that page)
  3. Along the left hand side of your screen, select “Users”
  4. Confirm that each user listed is someone in your organization or an active business partner. If the user listed is someone who has left your organization or an inactive business partner, we recommend removing their access.

Bonus tip: It is also prudent to make sure that you or someone you trust implicitly is the Primary Owner of the listing.
